This Month: On Call helps expat in Afghanistan

Sharon, an expatriate employee for a government contractor, was in Afghanistan for a work assignment. After witnessing a traumatic Worried womanevent, she was hospitalized for a severe anxiety attack. She was treated at a nearby U.S. military base and doctors determined she needed further psychological testing and evaluation which could not be provided locally. Due to her high security clearance, Sharon was required to undergo a detailed debriefing by her employer before returning to the U.S. for long-term care and recuperation. Transportation options were minimal, so Sharon turned to her company’s travel assistance provider, On Call International, for help.

On Call to the Rescue

Sharon’s condition made her case very time-sensitive, and a quick evacuation to the closest debriefing facility with proper psychological care was vital. On Call worked around the clock to ensure she received seamless care while updating her employer throughout the process. On Call secured a charter flight to a debriefing facility across the country and arranged for two nurse escorts to accompany her on the trip. After Sharon was evaluated and debriefed, she was ready to return home to Colorado to recuperate. Nurse escorts with active visas for Afghanistan were limited, but On Call was able to use its extensive resources to arrange for a highly-qualified nurse to pick Sharon up at the debriefing facility.

A Safe Return Home

Sharon, accompanied by her nurse escort, traveled home to Colorado for continuing treatment with the support of her family. After the proper therapy, thanks to On Call, she was released and ready to get back to work in her U.S. office.
