Nurse-Escorted Mental Health Repatriation: New York to Beijing
An international student from China, studying in New York, required hospitalization for mental health care. On Call was brought in to arrange a safe medical repatriation. After reviewing the medical details, our clinical team authorized a nurse-accompanied return to China with continuous in-transit care. Due to the complexity and duration of the journey, two Rescue Nurses were assigned to ensure seamless support from bedside in New York to arrival in Beijing. The student’s mother was engaged throughout the planning process, and the student was safely reunited with family upon arrival.
Dual-Patient Air Ambulance Evacuation: Belize to U.S.
While on a business trip in Belize, an executive and his wife were involved in a serious vehicle accident and transported to a local hospital with significant injuries—he sustained a spinal injury, and she suffered internal trauma.
On Call’s Medical Team reviewed the treating physician’s reports and determined the husband required air ambulance transport to the U.S., while the wife was stable enough to travel under the care and supervision of a Rescue Nurse. In response to the family’s request to keep the couple together, On Call coordinated a specialized air ambulance with a double stretcher configuration and an additional nurse to ensure continuous care throughout the journey. Both patients were safely returned home for continued treatment.
Telehealth Prescription Replacement for Student in Madagascar While traveling in Madagascar, an NGO traveler realized she didn’t have enough of her asthma medication to last the duration of her program. She reached out to On Call for help navigating her options for obtaining a refill locally. On Call arranged a same-day telehealth appointment with a licensed physician who was able to prescribe her a refill of her asthma medication that met local regulatory requirements. With guidance from On Call, she filled the prescription at a nearby pharmacy and was able to continue her assignment without disruption.
Pre-Trip Risk Assessments for International Expansion An organization planning international expansion sought On Call’s expertise to address health and safety concerns at key destinations. They requested guidance on Zika virus, mosquito-borne illnesses, and medical facilities equipped to treat such cases in Ghana. For a remote region in Mexico, they sought information on snake bite risks and medical facilities capable of providing anti-venom treatment.
On Call’s Security and Medical Teams collaborated to deliver tailored risk assessments and emergency response plans for each location. The organization received clear, actionable insights that enhanced their confidence in managing health risks, enabling them to proceed with their international operations securely.
Itinerary Support in Australia A group of wildlife activists preparing for a safari in Tasmania grew concerned after receiving notice of a late pickup time. The change raised questions about the tour operator’s credibility, the safety of the itinerary, and whether the delay might cause them to miss their return flight to the mainland.
To address these concerns, the group contacted On Call International for a comprehensive review. After obtaining the itinerary and verifying the operator’s credentials, On Call’s Security Team conducted a risk analysis, evaluating the planned routes, locations, and timing. The operator confirmed that the schedule was designed to avoid peak heat and optimize wildlife viewing during cooler evening hours, while still allowing sufficient time for the group to reach the airport.
On Call relayed these findings to the travelers, confirming that the itinerary met both safety and logistical standards. Reassured by the vetting process, the group proceeded with their safari as planned.
