Helping Travelers Every Day: Meet On Call’s Rescue Nurse Team!

Here at On Call, we have a team of caring and compassionate Rescue Nurses who are ready to help our travelers get home safely from anywhere, at any time. Typically if a traveler is medically stable, alert, and conscious, a commercial evacuation with a Rescue Nurse is the best transport option. From bedside to bedside, our Rescue Nurse Team coordinates, oversees, and monitors every logistical and medical detail of a traveler’s transport.

Gary Spence

A Little About You:
I’ve been with On Call for over 14 years. Believe it or not, with all the travel I do for work, my wife and I still love to travel! My other hobbies include boating, fishing, and skiing.

Why This Job Is So Meaningful:
The most meaningful part of the job is getting the patient safely and healthfully to their destination. They are so appreciative – I receive hugs, many thanks, and “I could not have done this without you’s.” I love receiving their follow-up emails, texts and Christmas cards. The satisfaction I receive is unexplainable.

A Little About You:
I have been with On Call for over 10 years. I am US Air Force Retired with 27 years of service as an elite member of the Critical Care Air Transport Team (CCATT). In this job, I am consistently reminded of my military transports of wounded warriors, and how patients and families are always so appreciative.

Why This Job Is So Meaningful:
The most meaningful part of my job is the satisfaction and gratification I receive from safely returning patients to their home areas. When I walk into a patient’s hospital room their faces light up with joy, and they know I will hold their hands throughout their journeys. It is so rewarding!

Why This Job Is So Meaningful:
I love helping my patients return home! They are very grateful and so happy I am there for them. I always will send a follow up note to my patients, and many of them respond back. I have even kept in touch with many of them through the years. I love hearing from them.

A Little About You:
I have been with On Call for over 15 years. I work in a hospital setting part time, but this job feeds my soul. I’m married with 3 grown “children.” My oldest recently became a “Rescue Nurse.” Obviously, I love to travel!
