Case Study: Cross Border Evacuation from Israel to Egypt to Europe

Background

While visiting family in Israel, a student was impacted by a rapidly evolving geopolitical situation that limited commercial air travel options and created uncertainty around safe departure routes. The student needed to return to Madrid to continue a study abroad program, but faced significant challenges securing a safe way out of the region. With limited viable options, the student’s university contacted On Call International for assistance in identifying a safe and reliable path out of the region.

On Call Steps In

On Call’s Global Security Team immediately began monitoring conditions on the ground and assessing the most viable evacuation routes based on real-time intelligence, border access and transportation availability.  In coordination with trusted local partners, the team arranged secure ground transportation from Israel across the Taba border into Egypt and confirmed border crossing requirements, timing and security considerations to support a smooth transition between locations to help minimize disruption.

On Call’s Operations Team managed onward travel planning, including a hotel stay in Sharm El Sheikh and commercial flights to Madrid via a secure route. Throughout the process, On Call’s teams coordinated closely across functions internally and with local partners on the ground to adapt plans as conditions evolved.

A Successful Outcome

The travelers successfully crossed the border and reached their accommodation safely. After an overnight stay in Sahrm El Sheikh, the traveler boarded a commercial flight and returned to Madrid to resume their study abroad program. Throughout the journey, On Call maintained ongoing communication with both the student and the university, providing updates and oversight to ensure a safe and supported return.
